Practicing Creativity June release sneak peek!
Happy Tuesday! I am here to share a card made using Practicing Creativity's June release - Barefoot Summer. This is a really fun set and I just adore it!
I used the tree stamp from the set and made the emboss-resist background. Here is how I did it: (The captions/descriptions under the photos are the same as the ones on the photos. I did it just in case you can't see it well.)
Put the tree stamp on the acrylic block and ink only the top/branch part of the stamp with VersaMark.
Stamp the inked branch on the card base starting at one corner. Repeat the process and stamp all the way around the card base.
After stamping all the way around the card base. Clear-emboss the piece.
With an applicator/ink blending tool, apply ink to the clear-embossed card base. I chose to use mustard seed distress ink. (I also prefer to use a felt attachment for my applicator.)
This is the background you would get. The branch embossed background is really pretty and intricate. I left the center un-inked since I knew it would be covered by the main image.
I also used one of the larger flowers from the set as the sun. The smaller flowers and the super cute flip flops were also from the Barefoot Summer set. My favorite is the tree though. Isn't it so fun and whimsical? =) I colored a few extra leaves to extend them out of frame just to add a little interest.
All images were colored with Copics. I also added the ground and grass for a more finished look. The sentiment is from PTI's Life set.
Don't forget to stop by DT members Dana's, Paulina's blogs for their cards featuring the tree image from Barefoot Summer set. And Courtney is featuring my card and she also has more peaks of the new set. Don't for get to comment on Courtney's blog for a chance to win this fabulous new stamp set that will be available on June 6th!
