Break for cake
Happy Friday, my friends! =) I am very happy and excited to be invited to guest design for Penny Black and my cards are posted over at the Penny Black blog today. I am sharing one of the cards with you.
I used the adorable Break for cake for this card. It was very difficult to pick which stamps that I wanted to work with since they have so many cute images!
The image is stamped on a piece of Papertrey Ink's Stamper's Select White cardstock then colored with Copic markers. PTI's white cardstock is my go to paper for coloring with Copics. It's very thick (110 lb.) and sturdy. I almost always use PTI's kraft for card bases. Neenah Classic Solar White is also excellent for coloring with Copics. In fact, Jennifer McGuire just recommended it on her blog. See here. It's a lighter weight (80 lb.) paper, I typically use them to print out patterned papers for my hybrid cards. I also love Copic X-Press It! Blending Card for coloring, but it's much pricer and I lock mine in a little save. =)
After coloring it, I cut the image out using Spellbinders Lebels 12 die. The sentiment is from the Sticker Sentiments - Birthday sheet by SRM Stickers. I trimmed the brackets off then put it on a oval cut with Classic Ovals Large die and matted with a piece of dark chocolate cut using a Classic Scalloped Ovals Large die. The patterned paper is from the lovely Fly A Kite collection by October Afternoon.
That's all for now. I'll be sharing the other cards later with more detailed descriptions. Don't forget to go to the Penny Black blog to see all three of them!
Have a fabulous Friday and thanks for stopping by!
