Getting to Know Me Blog Hop & a little giveaway
Happy Monday, my friends! =) I was tagged by the super awesome Lucy Abrams to be part of the "Getting to Know Me Blog Hop," so here we go! =)
1. What creative projects are you currently working on?
I am trying to come up with a card for Papertrey Ink's October Blog Hop Challenge. And to be honest, I am a little stuck! =) So I am going to walk away from it for a bit and I'll probably work on some cards for Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine's current calls and see how that goes.
2. What inspires your designs?
Most of the time the stamps/images themselves inspire me. There is usually a rough idea formed as soon as I saw the stamps/images. Or if I stare at a stamp set long enough, ideas usually come. LOL! =) Pinterest is also an awesome source of inspiration and I am totally addict to it!
3. What method/process (if applicable) do you apply to each of your creative projects, and how long does each project take to complete?
Since I love working with stamps/images that I can color, the stamp/image itself usually takes the center stage then everything else sort of fall into places. The stamp/image usually gets to be stamped first, after it's colored, I design the rest around it. I do try to be more flexible just so that I can make my designs more interesting.
For instance, here is an image coloring in progress.
And this is the final product.
It probably takes 2-3 hours to finish a card like this from coloring to finish. Occasionally, I make stamping-only cards and that could take longer than that. But if my creative juice is really flowing smoothly, something could be made in an hour. =)
4. If you had to describe your "signature" style, what would it be?
I would say, "cute and fun." I have absolutely no resistance to cute things and/or images! I also try to keep things simple most of the time. I do get inky and shabby every once in a while, but all the stars have to line up for a good one to happen for me. =)
5. What are 3 crafting products/tools you can't live without?
I use my trusty Copic markers to color my images most of the time and am very comfortable with using them. Even though I am experimenting with other coloring mediums, I'd always come back to my Copics for comfort.
My Cuttlebug gets used everyday. Not every one of my cards has a die cut piece on it, but having it around adds so many more possibilities!
Let's talk about my washi tape addiction. =) I have a ton of them and love every chance I get to use them on my cards. I also use inexpensive ones to temporally adhere things down so that it's easier for me to work on them.
6. My crafty idols.
I am absolutely in love with Jocelyn Olson's fresh, layered style. It's a breath of fresh air and you NEED to see her work! =) Jocelyn has already been tagged before and you can see her post here.
Another one is the talented Tiffany Ervin! She has an elegant style that gives her projects such ease and soothing feel. Really, go and feast your eyes! =)
Tiffany will be posting her response next Monday on her blog - It's the Stuff I Love! I am looking forward to read it and hope you do, too! =)
Thanks so much if you have made it this far, I really appreciate all my followers and readers. Inspired by Lucy, I'd like to show my appreciation as well. If you leave a comment on this post before October 27th, 11:59pm PST, I'll pick a lucky winner and send out a little thank you package! =)
Have a beautiful day and thanks so much for stopping by!
hugs,
alice
