Silhouette Bells & Simple Handmade

Here is a card that I made for my Mother-in-law for mother's day. I used Hero Arts' new clear set "Simple Handmade" for my background. I used Lisa's background stamping technique here for the base and Nichole Heady's faux silk techniques for the patterns on the background. Here is roughly what I did if you are interested:

I started with a cream cardstock and created the background using distress inks and the back of the big measurement stamp in the set like Lisa did for her card. Instead of stamping the right side of the image on the background directly, I stamped both the measurement and the little pattern image on a piece of white tissue paper. After crumbled it up really good I attached it to the background using gel medium. I also inked it with some tea dye before I attached it to the card base.

For the focal image, I stamped Friend Definition on a piece of rustic cream cardstock from PTI then clear embossed the Silhouette Bells over it. The bells were colored with shabby shutters, peeled paint, spun sugar and barn door using Q-tips. The sentiment stamp is from Close To My Heart. I used those stamps together because my MIL likes Lily of the Valley (suppose the bells are Lily of the Valley) and she is a fantastic quilter. I know the set is for sewing, but it's the closest I have...

I also used this week's sketch from Card Patterns for my card. I did add some twists of my own though! =) Here is the sketch:

Just a little reminder. Courtney has more "You're the Man" peeks for you on her blog and she is featuring cards from guest designers! Don't forget that she is also giving away a set of this new stamp, so make sure to visit her blog!

I know I am not saying this often enough, but I want to let you know that I really appreciate and love reading your comments. Some of you just have the ability to crack me up! Thank you so very much for taking the time to visit me and thanks for making my day! =)

Hope you all have a lovely day!

This is amazing Alice. I had to read how you did it twice through. SO how does the distress ink stay on the shiny embossing? You really used only q-tips to do it? I just love it. The whole thing is gorgeous.
