Surfing Oliver

Hello, all! Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps is sponsoring this week's challenge over at Lollipop Crafts and here is my card for the challenge.

The challenge is Make A Splash. We were supposed to use some kind of water or water related images in our projects.

I used Surfing Oliver for my card. He is colored on PTI's Stamper's Select White cardstock with Copic markers then cut out.

To make the background, I first pressed various distress inks on acrylic blocks, lots of water was spritzed over the ink I then flicked the ink onto the watercolor paper with a paint brush. I did let each color sit on the paper for about a minute before dabbing them dry with a paper towel, this resulted in very pretty paper towel. =) The sentiment is then stamped and pattered paper circles added before I dry embossed the piece with Circles Texture Fade. In the hope of getting a water-y, glistening look, some Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint is applied to the whole piece and let dry before I popped Mr. Oliver on top with foam tape.

It took me the longest to decide if I wanted those circles behind Mr. Oliver, I was afraid that they would make it too busy. In the end I think they grounded/framed him okay. It was a really fun card to make though, I really like the texture the dry embossing and crackle paint created. =) I am also linking this up to The Spatter Technique Challenge in the Moxie Fab World just for fun. =)

That's all (the blah blah) I have for now. Have a happy day, my friends!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wonderful Alice - I love the repeating circles - like the circle a wave makes as it crashes down. Clever!
