One Layer, Cute Kawaii & Wild Thing
Happy Sunday, my friends! =) Hope your weekend has been great! I have a few cards to share with you today. First up, a one layer card for Kristina's one layer card challenge.
I made a card with similar design for my Win A Day at the Hero Arts blog (not featured) and I decided to make a one layered version of it. I did some thinking about how and what were the orders of stamping and masking before I started. Once that was figured out, it went pretty smoothly.
I made a mask for the middle rectangle using a plain printer paper, centered (or I tried) it and drew the outline using a pencil. I then knew where I wanted to stamp the whale. After stamping and coloring the whale from this stamp set, I masked it and the border before inking on my waves with tumbled glass using Lisa's method here. I then masked the wave along with the already masked border and whale and stamped the Clouds. Ok, I also masked the three water sprouts...
I wanted to make it look like I mounted my main image on a piece of colored cardstock, so I masked the center rectangle and the whale tail then inked the border with mustard seed. After that, stamping the sentiment was easy. So yeah... It's a bit of work, but I love how it turned out. There are a few things that I could have done better (the coloring of the whale, avoid the ripping of cardstock while peeling off the masks, better coverage of inking and don't touch non-yellow parts of the card with my yellowed fingers), but I think I like this one! =) Thanks for the awesome challenge Kristina! =)
Here are two cards made using digital kits released at Two Peas this past week.
I used Holly Brooke Jones' super adorable flower from "Cute Kawaii Dital Puffy Stickers" for this card. The cute images/stickers from this kit make me smile! The patterned papers I used are from "Flower Shower Papers" also created by Holly. I love those cute flower patterns on the red paper! =) The sentiment is from this set by Hero Arts.
Jen Martakis' "Wild Thing" kit is also loaded with cuteness! I love the combination of brown and blue, so I decided to make a baby card. I stamped the postage frame on the blue solid paper from Jen's kit then added those super cute animals on top. I printed an extra set of animals and paper pieced them using some rolled up glue dots to add some dimension. Jen's Wild Thing kit is also available separately. See the patterned papers here, the solid papers here, the elements here and the full kit here.
Thank you so much for sticking around for the long post! =)
