paper tearing fun!

This week's challenge over at the Hero Arts blog is all about "paper tearing."

The first card I made for the challenge was really simple. I stamped the cute tulip from the Three Flowers cling set then pieced the flower and the leaf from separate papers that I colored with Copic markers. I tore out a piece of white tissue paper just slightly bigger than the text paper then glued them together. I then did some simple sewing on it.

The butterflies were leftovers from making my second card.

I remember Dawn McVey made a tutorial on how to make a paper tearing/distressed flower in this post, so I decided to make one for my second card.

I clear-embossed the Hero Arts Antique Flower Background then colored it with three distress inks. I then made the flower according to Dawn's instructions. The green grass/ground is also clear-embossed with the new Branch Background cling stamp then colored with Peeled Paint and a little bit of Tea Die then torn to the shapes and sizes that I wanted.

The sky was yet again clear-embossed with the Flourish Background cling stamp (this is a must-have!) then lightly colored with Broken China. The butterflies were punched from scraps from making the flower. I also borrowed the stem from the biggest flower in the Three Flowers cling set for mine.

So I wanted to round the bottom corners as an afterthought. After I jammed my card (carefully...) into the punch it was too thick to be punched (I squeezed as hard as I dared to)... Luckily, it left good enough marks so that I could just trim them off with my scissors... The Corner Chomper is SOOOO on my list!!!

Well, that's all I have for now. Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

Thanks for stopping by!
