Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #48

Happy Sunday my friends! It's time for another Cupcake Inspiration Challenge! Here is this week's inspiration:

Here is my take on the inspiration:

I used the red, pink and green on the cupcakes to color my image. I paired her with some yummy patterned papers from Making Memories' Just Chilling Girl collection.

I colored Spring Time Lily illustrated by Rachelle Anne Miller using Tim Holtz Distree Ink pads. I found an awesome tutorial here on water coloring using distress inks and just had to give it a try. I didn't use reinkers though, I just pressed some inks on my acrylic blocks and used a watercolor brush to pick up and mix colors.

I used water color paper for this. And obviously I have a lot of room for improvement! =) I have a few more images colored using this method, so stay tuned! Let me know if you like the water color look! I am not giving up my Copics. Just playing around with all sorts of fun techniques! =)

That's all I have for today. Don't forget to go and check out what other HSE Sweeties came up with! Here are the links:

Violet

I made this card for Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger, Fun With Floss and The Olympics of Stamping challenges!!

I white-embossed the flowers from Papertrey Ink's Year of Flowers: Violet stamp set then added the french knots as flower centers using embroidery floss. Maile Belles has a wonderful tutorial on how to make french knots on paper here. I hope it's ok to combine all those challenges in one card. I just got some yummy new stamps from PTI, so I had to play!! =)

EDIT: The winner of Jane's Bird Watching digital stamps set never showed up, so I picked another winner. It's Kim Piggott!!!! Please email me, Kim. I will forward your email to Jane so that she can send you your digital stamps!

That's all from me today. Hope you all have a beautiful Saturday!

news, Fresh Clovers and Cute & Wild

Happy Thursday my friends! I am thrilled to announced that I am now a Design Team member of My Cute Stamps!! Here is the announcement posted by Holly, the creator of all the adorable stamps! I am very excited and honored to be on the same team with such a talented group of ladies!

To celebrate, I made a couple of hybrid cards using this week's new digital releases at Two Peas.

First one is made using Holly's new digital release - Fresh Clovers Mini Kit.

I adore those super cute images! They definitely reminded me of Holly's cute stamps! All elements are from the digital kit except for the sentiment. I printed out one extra butterfly so that I could add a little dimension to my card. This is a trick that I learned from this card created by Lucy, and she is also on Holly's design team! Thanks for the inspiration, girl! =)

I used Vinnie Pearce's Cute & Wild Stickers and Cute & Wild Papers to make my second card.

Don't you just want to give this adorable little monkey a big hug and a big smooch? I made him stand on those little "love rocks." LOL! Just a super cute kit!

I was amazed by how many new gorgeous digital kits were released at Two Peas this week. You have to check them out here!

Hope you all have a lovely day! =)

Willow With Champagne

Today is my day to post at The Hybrid Chick. Please hop over and take a look if you are interested! =)

On to my card today. I made a card using Willow With Champagne from Whiff of Joy Stamps' City Girl collection illustrated by Elisabeth Bell.

I used Sketch #90 from Friday Sketchers for my card. The gorgeous patterned papers are from Memories Box.

I again used some beautiful roses from Prima. I also traced the die cut Willow piece with some Diamond Stickles.

Don't forget to go and check out the new City Girl collection over at Whiff of Joy Stamps. I'll be featuring stamps from the February Stamp kit - Birdie Love very soon, so stay tuned! =)

LOVE, Mod Moths & Honeychurch

Hello my friends! I am here to share a few cards that I made using some new digital releases at Two Peas.

This card is made using Wilna Furstenberg's cute LOVE kit. I adore the heart vine/branch! It looks like it's still growing. =) I used stamps from Papertrey Ink's Simple Valentine set for the background and for the sentiment.

I love the mini polka dot paper that came in Holly Brooke Jones' Mod Moths Mini Kit. And of course her moths background papers are adorable, too! I printed out the already colored moths and enhanced the colors a little with my Copics. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Kenner Road's Honeychurch kit has so many beautiful papers in it, I couldn't resist and made three cards using this kit! This set of thank you cards are super quick and easy to make. And let me tell ya, the red and blue rose overlay is to die for!!! I just put it on top of two of the patterned papers from the kit, printed them out then die cut them. Easy peasy.

I also love this digital paper white flower with blue background. I used the overlay again and added two matching lace trims that also came with this kit. The background text/script paper is also included in the kit. A little bit of distressing and stamping is all it needed!

That's all I have for today. Let me know which one you like the most! You know I love hearing from you! Don't forget to check out all the new digital Two Peas releases here! =)

2 Sketches 4 You Laura's Sketch 46

Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I am here to share a card using this week's 2 Sketches 4 You sketch! Here is Laura's Sketch 46:

Here is my take on the sketch:

This adorable stamp is from this week's sponsor - InfinimentScrap. Since I wasn't sure what animal this is, I decided in the end that this would be a big bird with blue body and big orange beak in my little world. =)

This is also one of the busier cards that I made in a little while. I am not so sore about it... Any thoughts? Most of the pattered papers that I used are from Making Memories' new Flutter collection. The hills were cut using scraps from Papertrey Ink's Pretty Pastels collection.

Well, that's all I have for today. Hope you will have a chance to play along with us this week! =)

Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #47

Happy Sunday! It's time for another Cupcake Inspiration Challenge!! Here is this week's inspiration photo:

Here is my card:

I know, I know. I didn't use the colors from the photo, but I took the buttons and the sewing thread as my inspiration. These two embellishments are very important in this card.

As you can see, the colored image piece is really a bookmark and I used the buttons and the sentiment punch out as stoppers/frame to hold the bookmark in place. I think this card also qualifies for Kristina's A Year In Cards - February challenge at Two Peas. The challenge is to create a card that holds or contains a gift.

I used some cute papers from Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl collection and the buttons are from the Joy Ride and the Material Gril collections.

This beautiful digital stamp is called A Tasty Read illustrated by Elisabeth Bell. I was so excited to find out that she is coming out with digital stamps! =)

That's all I have for today. Don't forget to go and check out what other HSE Sweeties came up with! Here are the links:

    Willow Dressing Up

Here is a card that I made using the beautiful Willow Dressing Up stamp from the new City Girl collection illustrated by Elisabeth Bell available at Whiff of Joy Stamps..

The patterned papers that I used are from Memory Box's gorgeous Gossamer collection. Katharina kindly sent me those pretty butterfly charms and I just had to use one on this card! I also sprayed some of my homemade Perfect Pearl glimmer spritz on the Willow image piece. Ok, it wasn't planned. I had an accident using my Liquid Pearls on Willow's bracelets. To cover the mess, I decided to use the spritz over my image. Lesson learned: Always squeeze out the first bits of your Liquid Pearls on a piece of scratch paper before you put it on your target image...

I was instantly in love with those little roses from Prima the minute I saw them at my local Michaels! They come in three colors per package and I think these beautiful pink ones are from the "Spring Mix" collection. The color just matched my card perfectly!

That's all for today. Hope you have a beautiful Saturday!

    Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #101

Hello my friends! It's Friday and it's time for another Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge! This week's sketch is a little special. Taylor is organizing a card drive for the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit at Sanford Hospital in Sloux Falls, SD. .At the hospital, they give cards and memorabilia featuring a dragonfly as a symbol of hope to families who lose a child in birth or during the early stages of life. And Taylor is asking anyone who is interested in participating this card drive to make cards with dragonflies on them. This was one of the driving forces behind the design of the Discover Your Wings stamp set. For every 50 cards she receives, Taylor will give away a $50 certificate to the TE Store. To kick off this meaningful card drive, here is this week's sketch for some inspiration:

    Here is my card:

I stamped Hero Arts' Silhouette Grass and Friend Definition on a piece of Papertrey Ink's Rustic Cream cardstock using the watercolor technique for the background. The edges were then distressed with Tea Dye and Vintage Photo.

This beautiful dragonfly is from Hero Arts' digital kit - Winged Friends. I colored it with Copic markers. I also rubbed some Vintage Cream Perfect Match Hybrid Ink from PTI on the edges of the card base. After adhering everything down, I spritzed some homemade Perfect Pearls glimmer mist on the whole card to get the shimmering look.

Well, that's all I have for now. Don't forget to check out what dragonfly cards all the other members of the TESC Sketch Crew came up with for this sketch and card drive!! Here are the links:

I certainly hope that you get a chance to make a dragonfly card for this card drive. Please go to Taylor's blog to find out more details about the card drive.

Hope you have a lovely weekend! =)

    Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #46

Happy Thursday my friends! I wasn't able to post my card for Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #46 on Sunday, so I am making it up for you today! Here is the inspiration photo:

Aren't those colors super yummy? I love those pretty cupcakes. Here is my card inspired by the photo:

I took pink and brown from the photo and used them on this adorable girl's dress. Don't you think the bow in her hair looks like a butterfly? =) The patterned papers that I used are from My Mind's Eye's yummy "Be Loved" collection. The sentiment is once again from Nina's versatile Heartily Yours Additions set.

I found this Simple Sweet Heart digital stamp at Kimprints on Etsy. I adore her simple designs! =) I am obsessed with digital stamps these days and am very happy to be able to find and support a talented artist. =)

That's all I have for today. Please go to Rachel's blog to find out how you can join us in this delicious challenge!

    Shopping Willow

I made this card using Shopping Willow from the new City Girl collection illustrated by Elisabeth Bell.

I paired Willow with the beautiful Porcelain collection from BasicGrey. Inspired by Rachel's card here, I cut the tops of the shopping bags open and stuffed some tissue paper in them. I also decided to paper piece Willow's shopping bags using some scraps from making this card.

I made this card using Sketch #89 from Friday Sketchers. I think this card is perfect for a girl's birthday with a gift card attached! =)

That's all I have for today. Please go and check out all the new stamps from the City Girl collection at Whiff of Joy Stamps!

You Picked Me! & Beautiful Ending

Happy Tuesday my friends! I am here to share two cards that I made using some new digital releases from Two Peas.

I made this card using Michelle Underwood's You Picked Me! kit. I love those paper flowers that Michelle created. I think Michelle designs some of the most beautiful damask digital papers and I love all of them. I used the damask patterned paper from each kit for each of my backgrounds.

I wanted to use these flowers when I first saw them! They are just so beautiful!! This kit is also created by Michelle Underwood called Beautiful Ending. I decided to use these flowers as my focal point and of course I had to use this beautiful lace trim somewhere, too! I just added the twine for a finishing touch after printing and die cutting the papers.

That's all for me today. Please check out Two Peas' new digital releases here.

    2 Sketches 4 You Kazan's Sketch 46

I am thrilled to announce that I am a member of 2 Sketches 4 You Design Team! This came as a huge surprise, but I am so happy and honored to be working with some of the most talented card makers. Big thanks to Laura and Kazan for this opportunity!

On to this week's sketch. Here is Kazan's Sketch 46:

Here is my take on the sketch:

This week's sponsor is InStyle Stamps. I got to play with this versatile Birdhouse digital image.

I decided to build a spring-y look for my card. I cut out two rows of grass, but the first row was covered by the fence. And if you were wondering where or what I did with the little butterfly leftovers from my butterfly card in this post, I used a couple of them in this card. =)

That's all I have for today. Hope you have the chance to play along with us this week! =)

Happy Chinese New year & Happy Valentine's Day!!

Hi all! Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Valentine's Day!! First of all, congratulations to Dottie !!! You won Jane's new digital release - Bird Watching! Please send me an email and I'll forward it to Jane. She will be sending you those cute images! If you are here for my entry to CAARDvarks' "wedding card" challenge, please scroll down to the bottom of this post. Thanks! =)

Today is the first day of the Year of Tiger in the Lunar Calendar. We went to a friend's place last night for a hot-pot party to celebrate this biggest holiday in the Chinese culture. I made two simple and quick cards for two other couples that were at the party.

I used two free images from Mo's Digital Pencil, but you can only get those freebies by joining Mo's Group at Paper Craft Planet.

This image is called "2010 Baby Bella and Bronte." I think it was for the New Year, by adding "Chinese" with my awful handwriting it's perfect for the Chinese New year! =)

This happy image is "500." I think it was for the celebration of having 500 members at Mo's Paper Planet Group. After I cut the colored image out with my Nesties, I simply stamped the sentiment from Close To My Heart around the circle. For the little gap that the stamp couldn't cover, I just added a red button! Easy peasy!

I kept the colors of the images mostly red, because red is the luckiest color in the Chinese culture. We believe that red brings good luck and good fortune.

And of course I have to have a Valentine's card for Valentine's Day, too!

This is also a freebie called "Bella Hearts Bronte." I adore this sweet image! =) The patterned papers that I used are from My Mind's Eye's Be Loved collection. The sentiment is from Nina's Heartily Yours Additions stamp set.

And finally, here is my card for CAARDvarks' wedding card challenge. Please hop over and check how you can get a chance to be published!

I used Papertrey Ink's In Bloom set for this simple card. The sentiment is from Scattered Showers set.
